What's new for HelpMaster Pro v7.5?

HelpMaster Pro v7.5 is a major upgrade to v7.0 and includes many new and exciting features. The Email Manager is a completely new product, as is the new Staff Web Module. The Priority Manager has received a major re-working and the Knowledge Base and Correspondence templates now support HTML. Spelling and Thesaurus is now available to users of Microsoft Office, and of course there's new reports and a greatly improved reporting database to work with.

Desktop Edition

  • HTML / Rich Text support for Knowledge Base articles and Correspondence Templates
  • Spelling and Thesaurus functionality for Microsoft Office users
  • A terminology setting for "Helpdesk Explorer"
  • The "Saved Searches" expanded state is now remembered so that it displays in the same manner as you last left it
  • "Saved Searches" can now be ordered and renamed
  • Issues Viewer : When opening the Issues Viewer from the Job Screen or elsewhere that already contains an issue hierarchy, the Issues Viewer will open to that spot in the hierarchy
  • Field Chooser : Has had a major re-working. Includes more fields to choose from an a new architecture that delivers better performance to populate and display information
  • Correspondence Templates > Email Tags : Additional tags have been included to support the email fields (subject, message etc) that were part of an original email that was converted into a job by the new "Email Manager"
  • Job screen : Screen splitter bar has been increased in width for ease of use
  • Jobs now remember and display the original site that the client was associated with when the job was originally logged (helpful for reporting)
  • Job templates : Additional jobs fields have added to the templates. It is now possible to set the "To be completed by" date field to a relative time in the future from when the template was used (great for setting SLA and working in with the Priority Manager)
  • Better job history searching : Results will now include Primary and non primary clients and sites when searching for job history
  • Better general job searching : The Job Finder has been improved to include more search options, including time calculations based on actual office working hours vs absolute hours
  • All templates now include additional "Notes" fields for better documentation
  • Assets, Clients, Knowledge Base articles etc can now be bulk-deleted (previously they had to be deleted individually)
  • Asset linking to jobs : Now includes an additional option to search for assets linked to the client as well as the site
  • Importing has been improved to cater for missing or invalid system codes
  • Importing screen now allow you to save and load previous "mapped items"

Email

  • Ability to choose which email system to use (Outlook vs SMTP vs Simple MAPI)
  • Ability to send HTML / Rich Text email
  • Ability to send email without the Outlook security message appearing
  • New email preview screen

Priority Manager

  • Ability to choose which email system to use
  • Improved logging capabilities
  • More options within the Job Finder to create schedules (eg. ability to define schedules based on office working hours)
  • SQL Syntax checker for custom SQL
  • Improved frequency options. Now have the ability to action a job only once per schedule etc
  • The Priority Manager Agent has been completely re-written in .net and now runs as genuine Windows service

Email Manager

  • The "Email Job Logger" has been replaced by a completely new product called the "Email Manager"
  • Email Manager has been written from scratch using the new .net programming languages
  • Greater flexibility for email parsing rules (eg. multiple filter criteria with full boolean searching)
  • New feature to create a new client if the sender's email address is not recognized (now anyone can have a job automatically logged by HelpMaster Pro)
  • New feature to add an action to an existing job
  • New feature to add the contents of subsequent client emails to an action within HelpMaster Pro job
  • New feature to move or delete original email after processing
  • New feature to log successful and unsuccessful email events
  • The Email Manager Agent has been completely re-written in .net and now runs as genuine Windows service

Client Access Web Module

  • Client Web Module now has the ability to display custom fields
  • New feature to display an administrator message before the client logs on
  • Improved handling of clients uploading attachments - an Action template can be nominated to execute when a client attaches a file
  • More options for screen customization
  • Improved user interface
  • Rich text knowledge base articles
  • Customisable descriptions for web enabled job and action templates

Staff Web Module

  • The Staff Web Module is a new product that has been written from scratch using the new .net programming languages
  • Staff can now access 100% HelpMaster Pro job functionality
  • Functionality includes...
    • Logging jobs
    • Adding actions to jobs
    • Adding links to jobs
    • Knowledge base
    • Helpdesk Explorer
    • Clients and Sites selection
    • Full custom data access
    • Ability to use all templates
  • Rich text knowledge base editing
  • HelpMaster Pro Desktop Security Control (user is restricted in the same way on the web)
  • Full sorting for search results
  • Search results displayed with field chooser columns
  • Interface based primarily around a single document interface
  • HelpMaster colour coded banners are maintained

Web Administration Utility

  • The Web Administration utility has been completely re-written in .net
  • Includes many additional administrative settings to customize the HelpMaster Pro web interface
  • Includes better support for upgrading from previous versions
  • Includes database backup for web.config files
  • Improved user interface and increased stability

Reports

  • More reports for Staff Activity
  • Improved formatting for reports
  • Greatly improved database query structure
  • Improved filtering for reports

Database and Reports Wizard

  • New feature to deploy reports separately from databases
  • New feature to register HelpMaster Pro with updated registration codes
  • New feature to run custom SQL against a HelpMaster Pro database (good for MSDE users)

The HelpMaster Pro database

  • General improvements in queries, table design and indexing
  • Greater support for custom reporting queries
  • Database dictionary has been updated and improved

Documentation

  • Helpfile has been updated to reflect most recent screen shot images
  • Many new content pages
